Dean Liz Baham brings to Reach an extensive and diverse range of experiences working within and on behalf of urban schools. Her career in education began as a classroom teacher and teacher leader in San Francisco Unified. Subsequent to leaving the classroom, she worked as a school reform coach, technical assistance provider, and program evaluator to Title I schools, where she managed school reform processes and strategic planning initiatives in more than 75 schools and 14 districts in the Bay Area. Currently, Liz serves as a lecturer in the University of California, Berkeley Graduate School of Education, Leadership for Educational Equity Program (LEEP). She is steeped in the research literature on systemic issues in urban education and strongly believes that bridging the gap between theory and practice is critical to school and student success.

Liz has more than 20 years’ experience in assisting schools and districts with the implementation and monitoring of programs and strategies that address the learning needs of language minority students, students of color, low-income students, and students with disabilities. She is focused on remedying systemic and localized barriers to student achievement and pursues approaches and practices that can solve endemic equity issues in the field.

A graduate of Stanford University with a master’s degree in education, Liz also received her doctoral degree from the Leadership for Educational Equity Program (LEEP) at the University of California, Berkeley. Liz was born in San Francisco and currently lives in the East Bay. She is an avid traveler and loves to learn about other cultures. She enjoys cooking, spending time with her family and her beloved dog Mickey.
